  10. Thank your for your recent letter concerning Copy II Plus!
  11. JYou mentioned the Disk Copy (Copy II Plus, Version 7.4) taking nine swaps M
  12. Kinstead of the previous two swaps.  Our programmers have indicated that it M
  13. Kshould be easier than the two swap copy and if you have only one drive, it M
  14. Kwill do the copy in two swaps still.  (We may revise the Disk Copy back to K
  15. Ithe way it previously worked so it adheres to our manual.)  [Has anybody O
  16. Mtimed the new copy process using UTIL.SYSTEM v7.4?  If you don't like it and N
  17. Lhave reverted to version 7.2, write Central Point and let them know how you 
  18. feel.]
  19. JRegarding dealers providing Copy II Plus updates, no we do not offer this L
  20. Jpolicy.  To keep your registration records accurate and provide technical '
  21. support we must process them inhouse.
  22. IFor THE TYPEWRITER, I have attached some backup hints which I hope prove O
  23. Museful.  We do not have any specific information on this program, but I have ,
  24. passed your request on to our programmers.

  30. HELPFUL THINGS TO TRY WHEN USING COPY II PLUS VERSION 5 - 7
  31. JFor the copy process, set the reading drive to 200-201 ms and the writing P
  32. Ndrive to 201.2-201.5 ms.  If only one drive is used, set it to 201-201.5 ms.  N
  33. L(You may want to set your drive back to the normal 200 ms after making your 
  34. backups.)
  35. MIf the original comes to you with the write-protect notch covered or with no M
  36. Knotch whatsoever, be sure to write-protect the backup before attempting to 
  37. boot it.
  38. Try all the "TRY" parameters.  (Listed alphabetically under the word TRY.)
  39. ATry any other parameters by the same manufacturer.  (To find the 6
  40. manufacturer, just print out the parameter listing.)
  41. Keep trying!  Several times.
  42. HIf you get errors on a certain track, go over that track(s) again using 
  43. Partial Auto Copy.
  44. HUsing Manual Bit Copy, set parameter 3E=02, or 3E=02, 55=03.  (55=03 by :
  45. itself is already included in the Try Header parameter.)
  46. GTry another machine, (due to differences in circuitry) especially if a &
  47. parameter requires quarter tracking.
